Get
ready for one of the sweetest nights of the year at the Durham
Fairgrounds! Cake Fest returns on Saturday, May 31 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM
in the Cow Palace for an evening filled with cake, music, family fun,
and a few new surprises.
Come
hungry because the Naples Pizza Truck will be on site serving pizza if
you want dinner before dessert. Then it’s time to enjoy cake, cake, and
more cake while listening to live music from No Hangups.
The
beloved Cake Walk is back, and this year we are replacing the Fruit
Cake Toss with an expanded Touch-A-Truck experience featuring vehicles
from the fire department, Town of Durham, and hopefully the Farm Museum.
Cake entries will once again compete for the coveted Golden Fork Awards. This year there will be three exciting categories:
• Best Visual Presentation – for the cake that looks almost too good to eat
• Judges’ Favorite – for the cake the judges would most love to sink their forks into
• Family Favorite/Vintage Recipe – for the cake with a story behind it
For
the Family Favorite/Vintage Recipe category, bakers are encouraged to
include both the recipe and a short description of why the cake is
meaningful. Maybe it was your son’s favorite birthday cake, the cake
your grandmother made every Christmas, or a family recipe that has been
passed down for generations.
Whether
you are entering a cake, sampling sweet treats, bringing the family for
the trucks and music, or just looking for a fun night out in Durham,
Cake Fest is the perfect way to celebrate community and creativity.
Bring your sweet tooth and join us for a delicious night at the Durham Fairgrounds!
